Cognitive Behavioral Art Therapy for Reducing Anxiety in a 20-year-old Female College Student : A Case Study

Abstract
The case study is to Cognitive Behavioral Art Therapy for reducing anxiety in a college female student. The subject of the study was a college female student, this cognitive behavioral art therapy program, which consists of 10 sessions, lasted from July, 2018 to October at A art therapy institute. First, a pre-test/post-test/follow-up test design using the K-Beck Anxiety Inventory, Adult Self Report, Drawing A Story were used and compared. Second, K-BAI measured in every session and anxiety expressed in every session were compared. The results are as follows. First, there were positive changes on the psychological tests. Second, anxiety decreased in K-BAI measured at every session and anxiety responses at every session fell off. Because, techniques, which are for cognitive reconstruction in cognitive behavioral therapy, were used in and out of sessions and were effective and images were reexperienced by art therapy works and core beliefs were changed through therapeutic activities with the art therapist. The results demonstrate that cognitive behavioral art therapy was effective in reducing anxiety in the college female student. Additional studies are required to corroborate this data.
